Japan Visa Fees Increase from July 1, 2026|Costs After Receiving a COE
Japan’s visa fees will increase for applications accepted at overseas diplomatic missions on or after July 1, 2026. A single-entry visa will cost approximately ¥15,000 and a multiple-entry visa approximately ¥30,000. A COE application itself has no government fee payable to the Immigration Services Agency, but after receiving a COE, applicants should check visa fees, agency handling fees, translation, courier, travel, and other practical costs.

Japan’s Immigration Services Agency is conducting a public comment procedure on proposed revisions to residence status application fees. The proposal includes a JPY 200,000 fee for permanent residence and new fees for visa renewal and change of status depending on the period of stay. Applications filed before October 1, 2026 may be treated under the current fee rules, but applicants should not rush without checking eligibility and documents.
