No Japanese Bank Account or Credit Card? Konbini Cash Payment Is Now Available

Foreign residents in Japan who do not have a Japanese bank account or credit card may be able to pay in cash at a supported convenience store when Konbini payment is displayed on the Stripe Checkout screen.

Stripe Konbini payment is now available

Tommy’s Legal Service now accepts Stripe Konbini payment for eligible consultation fees and administrative scrivener service payments.

This may be useful for people who have recently arrived in Japan and have not yet opened a Japanese bank account, do not have a credit or debit card, or cannot use an overseas-issued card for an online payment in Japan.

Konbini payment is a cash payment method used at supported convenience stores in Japan.

It is not a method for paying at a convenience store outside Japan. Available payment methods are limited to those displayed on the Stripe Checkout screen.

No credit or debit card

Eligible clients may be able to pay in cash even if they do not have a Japanese credit or debit card.

Overseas card not accepted

It may also help when an overseas-issued card cannot be used, or when a family member or friend in Japan will make the payment.

Supported convenience stores

  • FamilyMart
  • Lawson
  • Ministop
  • Seicomart

At present, 7-Eleven and Daily Yamazaki are not included in Stripe’s supported Konbini payment stores.
